1. Introduction

BetterMyMix ("BetterMyMix," "we," "us," or "our") operates the website bettermymix.com and related services (collectively, the "Services"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, when we share it, and the choices you have. By accessing or using the Services you acknowledge this Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

2. Information We Collect

Account information: name, email address, display name, profile photo, password hash, authentication provider identifiers (e.g., Google), and any information you choose to add to your profile.

Content you submit: audio files (mixes, stems, recordings), waveforms, project metadata, folder names, notes, links, messages, reviews, and any other content you upload, send, or post.

Transactions: billing details, purchase history, subscription status, and payout information processed by our payment processor (Stripe). We do not store full card numbers.

Usage data: IP address, device and browser information, log data, pages viewed, referring URLs, time stamps, and interactions with the Services.

Cookies and similar technologies: we use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for authentication, security, preferences, analytics, and to operate the Services.

3. How We Use Information

  • Provide, maintain, secure, and improve the Services.
  • Create and manage accounts, authenticate users, and prevent fraud or abuse.
  • Process payments, payouts, refunds, and chargebacks.
  • Facilitate communication between artists and engineers.
  • Send transactional emails, service notices, and (where permitted) marketing communications.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
  • Analyze usage to develop new features and content.

4. Legal Bases (EEA/UK)

If you are in the EEA or UK, we process personal data on the following legal bases: performance of a contract, compliance with a legal obligation, our legitimate interests (operating and improving the Services, security, fraud prevention), and your consent where required.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as follows:

  • Service providers: hosting, storage, analytics, email delivery, customer support, and payment processing (e.g., Supabase, Stripe), bound by confidentiality and data-processing terms.
  • Between users: content you submit to an engineer (or vice versa) is shared with that counterparty as needed to deliver the service.
  • Legal and safety: to comply with law, valid legal process, or to protect rights, property, safety, or the integrity of the Services.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets.
  • With your consent.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Uploaded files and project data may be deleted when you delete them or terminate your account, subject to backups and legal retention requirements.

7. Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. However, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials.

8. International Transfers

The Services are operated from the United States. By using the Services, you consent to the transfer, storage, and processing of your information in the United States and other countries, which may have data-protection laws different from your own.

9. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your personal information, and to object to certain processing or withdraw consent. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise rights, email privacy@bettermymix.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

10. Children

The Services are not directed to children under 13 (or 16 in the EEA/UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Third-Party Links and Services

The Services may link to or integrate with third-party sites and services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, and we are not responsible for them.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with an updated effective date and, where appropriate, notified to you. Your continued use of the Services after changes become effective constitutes acceptance.
